Ideal event for newcomers as well as established orienteers

Travel:From the South: A1 northbound to the Morpeth exit. Follow B1337 (old A1) past the County Hall roundabout. Left onto B6524 ("Belsay") GR NZ198848
After 1 km. turn right just before the bypass overbridge. ("Mitford" & "Morpeth Common") at O-sign GR NZ187842 Craik Park 500 m. on the right.
From the North: Note there is no exit at the south end of the Morpeth bypass for southbound traffic.
Consider leaving the A1 at the northern exit for Morpeth (A192), and B6343 ("Cambo") right on approaching the town centre.
After the river bridge at right angles 600 m. further take the left (unsigned) up the hill (Beware runners). Craik Park on left beyond houses.
Otherwise travel through the town centre. Leave on B1337 (old A1) and take the right turn into B6524 as above.
From the West: B6524 from Belsay & Whalton.Turn left after the bypass overbridge and as above.
Bus from Newcastle Haymarket to Morpeth Golf Club at the B6524 junction above.:X18 (9:18 & 10:18);X15 (9:48); X14 (10:48).
Then walk 1.5 km. on old railway bridleway (see above map link). Journeys from other parts. Rail: 2.3 km.

Starts:10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m ~ Courses close 2:00 p.m.

White ~ Yellow ~ Orange remain on the Common with A4 1:5000 map. Other courses not advised for under 16s. (see "Safety" and "Terrain")
Map:Light Green and above A4 1:7500 Courses marked on waterproof paper.
Terrain:Morpeth Common: a relatively flat rough open area with many dog-walkers’ paths and a few patches of woodland.
Longer courses use nearby streets - paths & open areas, Borough Woods - a mature wooded area with steep valley sides .
Dogs:Under close control on public open space.
Facilities:Registration, Download and toilets in Football Club.
