Travel:To centre of Rothbury via A697 Morpeth to Wooler road and (from the north) B6341 or (from the south ~ but see note below) B6334.
From Alnwick and the east take B6341 to the centre of Rothbury.
In Rothbury opposite Barclay's Bank take B6342 for ~ 3 miles. At a sharp left hand bend take a side road on the right for 2 miles to Forestry Car Park. Nearest postcode (Lordenshaws. Do not turn into farm drive. Continue forward). NE61 4PU
From Tynedale take A6079 or A68 to join B6342 Hexham to Rothbury road (winding route). 1 mile beyond The Gate Inn at the bend noted above take the side road (left).
Roadworks 1: Traffic coming from Carter Bar or Bellingham should note that the B6341 Otterburn to Rothbury road is currently completely closed until 2nd November. Should reopening be delayed event traffic should be prepared to travel further south on A 696 to Knowesgate (signed "Cambo") and join the B6342 (signed "Rothbury") as above (about 4 extra miles). This route might be preferable in any case.
Roadworks 2: Traffic coming from the south on A697 should note that the B6334 Weldon Bridge to Rothbury road is currently completely closed until 2nd November. Should reopening be delayed event traffic should be prepared to travel further north and join the B6341 as above (about 4 extra miles)

The Long Orange course is suitable for fit adults who are familiar with the area and/or map reading but new to orienteering.
Fell runners should note that British Orienteering rules require full leg cover.
Competitors who usually enter Light Green (including M/W14 for league points) should enter Short Green.
Long Orange, Green, Blue and Brown go onto the open fell.
Blue and Brown visit the south and east side of the Simonside Hills, an area not used for orienteering for many years.

Starts:10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Approximately 800m, 15 mins. walk, uphill from registration. Courses close 2:30 p.m..
Terrain:Open moorland with plantation on lower slopes.

Facilities: Limited toilet.

SafetyRemember you orienteer at your own risk.
Compass and emergency whistle must be carried. In bad weather competitors on all courses will be required to carry a hooded water proof jacket.
Additionally on Long Orange, Green, Blue and Brown courses competitors will be required to carry waterproof bottoms, hat and gloves.
Be aware of possible mountain bike riders.
Ticks are known to be present in the area. Do check after your run. Tick remover available at Registration.
Please bring your own requirement of water.
