Ideal event for newcomers as well as established orienteers. Instruction available.

Travel:Approach via A68.
Turn off A68 O signed at Kiln Pit Hill (5 miles S. of Riding Mill / 6 miles north of Castleside)
After ~ 2.5 km. where the road swings right (chevrons) filter left (follow for 2.5 km. to an O signed turn off the road on the right).
Note that this is not the main hotel entrance. Ignore any hotel signs after Kiln Pit Hill.
ParkingHardstanding in a field on the southern side of the Estate.

Courses:White (1.8 km.) ~ Yellow (2.3 km.) ~ Orange (3.2 km.) ~ Light Green (3.8 km.)
Short Green (3.2 km.) ~ Green (4.6 km.) ~ Blue (6.2 km.) subject to final controlling.
Entry:Seniors (M/W21+) £7.00. ~ Juniors (M/W20-) £2.00
Leaders of groups (scouts/schools) please notify the organiser in advance so that enough maps are printed.

Starts:10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Courses close 2:30 p.m.
Descriptions:Available loose at the start.
Terrain:Mixed forest, some good and runnable, and open grassland, complex path networks.

Facilities:On site toilets. Community run public house Slaley Village.
Dogs:Under control on a lead.

A whistle should be carried and may be a condition of entry.
Depending on the weather hooded cagoules may be compulsory.
Organised quad bike groups and / or illegal off roaders may be on paths. These vehicles are noisy so it should be possible to get out of their way.
The golf course is out of bounds.
