A series of low key local events on weekday evenings, in and around Newcastle and North Tyneside, with a league to encourage participation and competition. Courses suitable for beginners (advice will be available) and the more experienced wanting some training competition.

Courses:
Yellow (1.5 - 2.0 km.) ~ Orange (2.0 - 3.0 km.) ~ Long Orange.(3.5 - 5.0 km.)

Maps ands Controls
Sites will be marked with a plastic marker secured with a clothes peg. Markers will have a code letter in permanent marker to be written on the control card. Carry a pen.

Scoring:
100 points for the winner of each course, 99 for second, 98 for third etc. Anyone running in a course above their class will get a bonus of 5 points (10 for 2 courses above) and, likewise, anyone running a course below their class will be docked 5 points (10 for 2 courses below).

Travel: by car - navigate to NE end of Slatyford Lane to just past the SW corner of the Stagecoach bus depot. Park carefully and considerately. Satnav postcode NE5 2SE for depot. NZ209661
Bus 62, 63, 71 or 72 (all from Blackett St.) to Stamfordham Rd, 2nd stop after the roundabout that connects Silver Lonnen (EDS on the corner), bottom of the hill after Cowgate. Walk across the grass towards the bus depot, cross over, turn right, and continue around the depot to the open area on the left.

Aug 22ndSeaton Sluice------
Travel: From A189 Spine Road follow A190 past S.Delaval Hall to turn right at seafront roundabout and cross bridge.
From Blyth follow A193 forward at village seafront roundabout and cross bridge.A short way from bridge turn in left at the Premier shop.
From Whitley take the A193 Links Rd. to the first Seaton Sluice roundabout. Forward to turn in right at Premier shop.
Registration and a small car park on the right at the end of this street. Please do not inconvenience shoppers by parking on this street nor in front of houses. If car park full drive through to Collywell Bay Rd. (see Map)
Assembly: Methodist Church Car Park, Taylor Gardens, Seaton Sluice, Whitley Bay NE26 4QU
Terrain: Picturesque urban with green areas and fields interspersed.
Facilities: Toilets, Fish n'chips, Five pubs, Young child playground.
Bus: 308 (Arriva) Haymarket / Whitley Bay / Seaton Sluice "P.O." / Blyth
Bus: 309 (Go N.E.) Haymarket / Battle H. / Cobalt / Whitley Bay / S. Sluice "P.O." / Blyth. Return tickets NOT interchangable.
Bus: X7 (Arriva) Haymarket / S.Gosforth / S. Sluice (Fountain Head) Roundabout / Blyth plus ~1 km. walk.

Aug 29thTynemouth------
Travel : Northumberland Park NE30 2ES, Tynemouth Road, North Shields
Parking is best along King Edward Road (north side of park) or Tynemouth Road A193
Arriva Bus 306 from Haymarket to King Edward Road entrance– approx. 45 minutes
Go N.E. Bus 1 Whitley Bay to/from Gateshead/Wrekenton/Kibblesworth via Wallsend to Tynemouth Road entrance.
Metro: short walk from Tynemouth station. Direct access from platform 1 (Birtley Avenue side) through the metal gate at the bottom of the cobbled area.
Meet at Visitor Centre in middle of park. Toilets until 7:00
Terrain : Urban parkland and footpaths, some green areas.
