A Series of Local Orienteering Events

A series of low key local events on weekday evenings, in and around Newcastle and North Tyneside, with a league to encourage participation and competition. Courses suitable for beginners (advice will be available) and the more experienced wanting some training competition.

Electronic timing may be used for start and finish. All runners will be issued with a loan dibber which will be downloaded off site. Timing tickets will be issued at download.

Yellow (1.5 - 2.0 km.) ~ Orange (2.0 - 3.0 km.) ~ Long Orange.(3.5 - 5.0 km.)

Maps ands Controls
Sites will be marked with a plastic marker secured with a clothes peg. Markers will have a code letter in permanent marker to be written on the control card. Carry a pen.

100 points for the winner of each course, 99 for second, 98 for third etc. Anyone running in a course above their class will get a bonus of 5 points (10 for 2 courses above) and, likewise, anyone running a course below their class will be docked 5 points (10 for 2 courses below).

Seafront Car Park off roundabout at juncion of A193 (Whitley Bay > Blyth) and A190 (S. Delaval to S. Sluice).
 Otherwise street parking alongside the Melton Constable (southbound access from roundabout only) 
 or alongside the harbour (turn at the club). Short walk.  
 Bus308 from Haymarket > Blyth via Coast Road & Whitley Bay stops nearby. 
 Bus309 from Haymarket > Blyth via Battle Hill, Cobalt & Whitley Bay stops nearby. 
 Note that return tickets are not interchangable on 308/309. 
 Bus X7 from Haymarket to Blyth via S. Gosforth & S. Delaval. 
 Facilities: Fish & Chips. Four village public houses. Nearby playground. Sorry - Public Toilets closed at this time.

Travel: NZ164762 Memorial Hall, Darras Rd, Ponteland, NE20 9NX
Parking: Memorial Hall Car Park. Northbound turn left off Main Street (A696) and immediately look left to C.P.
Buses: X77 from Eldon Sq (17:15 & 17:45) also 74 (to Hexham via Westerhope) 17:35 to Memorial Hall, Darras Rd.
Short walk connections could be made from the Metro at Bankfoot.
Terrain: Ponteland Park and some local streets on Long Orange.
Post event BBQ. Heat supplied. Bring your own food.

Registration & Start (Saturdays): 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Registration & Start (Wednesdays): 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (except May 15th see above)
