In the intial stages, membership is not essential to take part. Feel free to come along and try a few events.
The membership year runs from January 1st to December 31st. Members joining after September 1st pay full current year fees to take membership to the end of the following year. Membership fees (Local) are waived in the first membership period for those with no history of orienteering club membership for the previous three years.
National Membership entitles, amongst other benefits, to communications from British Orienteering and senior discounted entry to district events and above nationally (discount in 2007/8 £2.00).
Local Membership entitles, amongst other benefits, to senior discounted entry to district events and above within the North East region (discount in 2007/8 £2.00).
Club only membership: provides club communications and invitations to social events. There is no discount to event fees, making this the option for those participating infrequently or mainly at the more informal events.
Within each of the above categories are the following:
Senior membership: for individual members aged 21 and over in the membership year
Junior membership: for individual members under 21 throughout the the membership year or in full time education to 24 yr.
Family Membership: for families at the same address. Children under 19 are included, but need to take out individual junior membership for the years of their 19th & 20th birthdays. The presence of children is not essential for family membership. ( i.e. 2 adults O.K.)

Examples:
A senior National Membership including contribution to the Club costs £26.50
A family requiring Local Membership including contribution to the Club pay £21.00.
The club element is payable in all cases.
