Event code explanations

Codes in the fixture list and on other publicity material give a brief indication of the type and standard of
competition.

C ~ indicates a cross-country (i.e. the classic control to control type of event)

R ~ indicates a relay event (i.e. a team event where members of the team take turns to follow a course. Team cumulative time counts.)

S ~ indicates a score event (i.e. accumulate as high a score as possible
by visiting "value" controls in the most efficient order in a set time)

N ~ indicates a night event - any of the above taking place in the dark.

O ~ indicates a form of event not included in the above categories.

1 ~ British Championship and JK Festival (Easter) events.

2 ~ National Events ~ Selected events (other than the above) offering the highest standard of cross-country orienteering.

3F ~ Local Events ~ offering Colour Coded courses for all or most abilities.

3L ~ Events offering a limited range of courses - not necessarily all complying with colour specifications - see individual event publicity for details.
