    Terrain: The area is urban, largely residential, with some parkland. The start is adjacent to a leisure centre set in grassy parkland, off the east end of the main road through the town centre. All courses apart from Yellow also visit woodland. The woodland has a path network which may be muddy in places.  Please note this event is a departure from our previous local events at Prudhoe Riverside. 
    While the event is on a Sunday when town is quiet, please do take care while crossing roads.

    Pandemic:This event will be conducted with regard to Government and British Orienteering guidelines in force at the time.
    Participation is conditional upon accepting the code of conduct for participants. It is important that you refer to the full document.
    Note in particular:

    • Do not attend if showing Covid-19 symptoms or are isolating or in quarantine.
    • Arrive reasonably close to your allocated start slot.
    • Respect Social Distancing at all times. Be particularly careful at the start, download and narrow pinch points.
    • Please use hand sanitiser available at Start and Download.
    • No entry on the day. See pre entry details below.
    • No dibber hire on the day. See long term hire details below.
    • Avoiding potential exposure to Covid-19 is more important than saving a few seconds at a control.
    • Leave the area promptly after your run with no picnicking or socialising.
    • A comprehensive risk assessment (covid appropriate) has been prepared

    Travel: Take A695 Gateshead to Hexham road and turn into Prudhoe Town (B6395) main street. Westbound turn in left shortly after fuel station. Eastbound turn right shortly before fuel station. Oaklands Health Centre. Bus 10/10a (GoNE) Newcastle Hexham/Low Prudhoe (to stop “Waterworld”). Rail: Prudhoe Station (1 mile – up steep hill).

    Entry: Online Pre entry only via SiEntries. No entry on the day. Entries open Saturday 1st May and closed Sunday 16th May.  Seniors (M/W21+): £6.00  Juniors (M/W20-): £2.00. If a competitor has to cancel due to COVID 19 or if an event is postponed due to COVID 19, participants will have the option of either a voucher against a future event or a refund.  NATO will organise this through SIentries.

    Starts: Allocated 15 minute time slots between 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Please go direct to the start. This window may vary according to demand and guidance at the time. Please check the entry site for availability.

    Punching: SPORTident electronic (SIAC enabled). No dibber loan on the day. Long term advance loan by post @ £5. Apply with your pre entry. Dibbers are available for purchase from £29 upwards from SPORTident.

    • Orange (2.1 km.)
    • Short Green (2.3 km.)
    • Green (4.5 km.) (Compulsory crosssing)
    • Blue (5.9 km.) (Compulsory crosssing)

    Juniors: We recommend that juniors M/W12 and under (running unaccompanied) enter either the Yellow or Orange course: The Yellow course only crosses one quiet residential road. The Orange course only crosses estate roads. We recommend that juniors M/W16 and under enter either the Yellow, Orange or Short Green course: The Short Green course does not cross any major roads. All entries are subject to the parent/guardian’s discretion and the competitor’s own risk.
