    A fantastic introduction to urban orienteering for new comers and those experienced in orienteering. Washington comprises a mixture of complex modern housing estates offering a varied network of footpaths, underpasses and green spaces.

    Travel: From A194(M) southbound, exit Follingsby Interchange (Jct.2)
    Take 1st exit onto Northumberland Way/A195 – 2.1 miles
    At Northumberland Way Interchange take the 3rd exit onto the A1231 slip road (to Gateshead/Newcastle) – 0.3 miles
    Merge onto Sunderland Highway/A1231 – 0.3 miles
    Slight left onto slip road to Washington (centre)/Albany – 0.1 miles
    At roundabout take 1st exit – 0.1 miles
    At roundabout take 2nd exit onto Parkway – 0.5 miles (car park on right)
    From A19 & Sunderland: via A1231 as above.

    Course notes: Course lengths are given as optimal distances avoiding physically impassable obstructions (buildings, uncrossable fences) and ‘out of bounds’ areas NOT as the crow flies.
    Junior courses 5 & 6 include quiet estate routes and one mandatory zebra crossing over a busier road. Please take care.

    Limited entry on the day: Three maps per course only will be available to those wishing to enter on the day on a first come first served basis. If you want to guarantee a run then please enter prior to the closing date on SI Entries.

    Map: 1:5000 by Fred Miller. Courses 1 & 2 will use a newly expanded map for this event.

    Punching: SPORTident electronic (contactless enabled) on all controls. No dibber loan on the day.
    Dibber hire £1. Order with your pre entry and collect at the event.
