Killingworth was built in the 1960s in an avant garde style. This is combined with more recent additions to offer a challenging variety of styles including a mix of complex street systems and open areas.

From the North: From A1 or A189 (Spine Rd) follow A19 to junction for Killingworth A1056 which follow to the first roundabout, taking first exit. Forward at the next roundabout into the Shopping Centre Car Park.
From the South via Tyne Tunnel (toll – pay by midnight next day) follow A19 to junction for Killingworth A1056 as above.
From the South or A69 via A1 Western Bypass exit for A1056 Killingworth. At the major roundabout follow A1056 forward. After the road climbs for about a mile, turn right at the roundabout. Signed Killingworth, Leisure Centre at the roundabout exit only. Forward into the car park as above.
Public Transport: Bus Services at Killingworth Bus Station, adjacent to the White Swan centre.
For visitors arriving at Newcastle Central Rail, the simplest route is to take Metro train to Four Lane Ends Interchange and 62/63 bus onward to Killingworth thus avoiding walking through the city. Parents and guardians of young juniors should be aware that the route from assembly to the start and the route back from the finish cross a road using a pedestrian crossing. The start and finish are very close to each other.Courses: subject to final controlling.
