    Terrain: Country park comprising grassy areas and open woodland on the north bank of the River Tyne. Courses use the network of surfaced and gravel tracks in the country park and on the edges of adjacent farmland. A minor road leading to the cottages at Blaney Row runs through the area. Routes to start, from one finish to download and some courses cross this.
    As a no-through road, traffic is light and sightlines are good.
    Please be aware several full fences marked on the map are now partially broken and easily crossed.
    Undergrowth is growing vigorously, therefore leg protection is advised.

    Pandemic: This event will be conducted with regard to Government and British Orienteering guidelines in force at the time.
    Participation is conditional upon accepting the code of conduct for participants. It is important that you refer to the full document.
    Note in particular:

    • Do not attend if showing Covid-19 symptoms or are isolating or in quarantine.
    • Arrive reasonably close to your allocated start slot.
    • Respect Social Distancing at all times. Be particularly careful at the start, download and narrow pinch points.
    • Please use hand sanitiser available at Start and Download.
    • No entry on the day. See pre entry details below.
    • No dibber hire on the day. See long term hire details below.
    • Avoiding potential exposure to Covid-19 is more important than saving a few seconds at a control.
    • Leave the area promptly after your run with no picnicking or socialising.
    • A comprehensive risk assessment (covid appropriate) has been prepared.

    Travel: Leave A6085 Scotswood to Throckley Road in Newburn Village. Turn down Station Road (by Lloyd’s Bank) towards the Tyne and right at the bottom. Beyond the houses, at the first significant bend enter the car park NZ160656 on the right via low pillared entrance. Beware oncoming traffic on the bend.
    From south of the river: from B6317 Ryton to Blaydon road, turn onto Haugh Lane and Newburn Bridge Road at lights. Across the bridge turn left and continue forward as above.

    Entry: Online Pre entry only via SiEntries. No entry on the day.
    Entries are now open and close 20th June.
    Seniors (M/W21+): £7.00 Juniors (M/W20-): £2.00
    If a competitor has to cancel due to COVID 19 or if an event is postponed due to COVID 19, participants will have the option of either a voucher against a future event or a refund. NATO will organise this through SIentries.

    Starts: Allocated 15 minute time slots between 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Please go direct to the start. 400 m. Signed from car park entrance and on footpath alongside minor road keeping Big Lamp pub on the left. Cross at entrance to small parking area.

    Punching: SPORTident electronic (SIAC enabled). No dibber loan on the day.
    Long term advance loan to NATO club members by post presently until August @ £5. Apply in good time with your pre entry. Dibbers are available for purchase from £29 upwards from SPORTident

    Dogs: Under close control.

    Facilities: Cafe on site offers take away drinks / snacks. Big Lamp pub is open from lunchtime. Public toilets were closed when site was last visited. Alternatives may be available in the leisure centre and pub.
