The Rising Sun Country Park is a green oasis of 162 hectares set in the heart of North Tyneside, with ponds, woodlands and extensive grasslands. The woodlands provide interesting orienteering for courses Yellow and above. The longer courses visit the hill in the southwest section of the park, from where the views are worth the climb.
Travel: Exit A19 north or southbound at Holystone Junction following A191 Gosforth.
A very short distance after the third roundabout (which has a left through filter) and before ASDA, turn left into the narrow entrance road 400 m. to Rising Sun Countryside Centre car park.

In the event of this car park being full visitors are entitled to park in an appropriate part of ASDA and proceed on foot along the path parallel to the road. This will require leaving the countryside centre via the one way exit road and approaching ASDA again from the main road.Entry: Online entries now open via SiEntries until Sunday 18th May..
Seniors (M/W21+): £7 Juniors (M/W20-): £2. Limited entry on the day for White, Yellow and Orange courses subject to small additional map stock. Please pre enter if at all possible to avoid disappointment.Punching: SPORTident electronic (SIAC enabled). Dibber loan with entry or on the day. Loss fee £30.

This is a popular area and walkers (with or without dogs), cyclists and horse riders are likely to be encountered. Please share with courtesy. Juniors and those accompanying should be aware of some unfenced ponds in the area and take care. -
